About

Situated in Tkaronto/Toronto (Canada) two seven two is a contemporary art gallery co-founded by Emma Bain and Yasmin Nurming-Por (2023). The gallery is a platform for hosting international and Canadian artists through exhibitions and collaborative initiatives. Our programme focuses on collection building and projects that support social transformation. Beyond the main gallery space, we invite projects on the exterior of the building.

The space is located at 272 Avenue Road, home to the historic Electric Gallery. Operated by the Markle brothers in the 1970s, it presented innovative kinetic art practices. Building upon this experimental legacy, we strive to cultivate exciting conversations about contemporary art.

We are delighted to be part of the Republic of Rathnelly, a community with a history of self-organization. In the 1960s and 70s, the neighbourhood association fought the development of a highway and proposed a republic separate from the Federal Government of Canada.
